The suspect fled when the raid was conducted by officers, but he was arrested a few metres away from his house.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the Southern Division Taskforce conducted the raid in which several plastic bags containing  a white substance were found.

The white substance later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Ms Naisoro said the man had been charged with one count of found in possession of illicit drugs and is expected to be produced in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.

The arrest of the suspected hard drugs dealer comes as Police try their best to curb the sale of methamphetamine, or ice as it is commonly known, and other drugs.

Meanwhile, there is no confirmation yet from the Fiji Police Force on the length of time the night operation in Suva City will go for.
