More than 100 students of Napuka Secondary School in Cakaudrove showed off their military skills on Wednesday during their passing-out parade.

The highest ranking female officer in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Colonel Litea Seruiratu, was the chief guest, along with members of the visiting US Army who were also present.

“This kind of cadet training programme is done with the help of the military and has been going on for the last three decades, and now there are a lot of schools that have taken this curriculum on board because they feel the discipline that they have in the military needs to be taught to those in the schools to improve learning and prepare them for academia,” Colonel Seruiratu said.

After the young cadets had a chance to show off their skills, the US Army and RFMF also put on a display for those who had gathered.

“This training programme that they ran is a demonstration of the culmination of the training the RFMF has received, so the school of Napuka is really blessed to have seen this display,” Colonel Seruiratu said.
