Babasiga Lions Roar Louder

Labasa coach Ronil Lal praised his players for their effort and winning $17,000 in prize money. Lautoka took home $5000.

Labasa striker Siotame Kubu dedicated his winning goal to his son, Tevita Tuinawaivuvu, who turns one on August 23.

The INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants player of the tournament scored the winning goal against Lautoka in injury time in the final at Churchill Park, Lautoka, yesterday. The win saw the Babasiga Lions end their 22-year B.O.G drought. They last won the tournament in 1997.

“It was not difficult to play against my former team Lautoka. I was born in Lautoka, but it’s a different feeling now,” Kubu said.

Labasa coach Ronil Lal praised his players for their effort and winning $17,000 in prize money. Lautoka took home $5000.

Lautoka coach Anginesh Prasad, who was not disappointed with the result, said: “We were ready, but unfortunately it was not our day. We will go back and analyse our shortfalls,” he said.

Suva won third place after beating Nasinu 3-2.
