Clooney’s Restaurant and Bar will be open soon.

Boon Toh and Laney Bing invested $280,000 into this venture as soon as they returned to Fiji two years ago.

Owner Ms Bing said this would be a family restaurant.

“Having lived in New Zealand nearly all my life where we are used to having great restaurants in every corner, then moving to Fiji, I realised my dining options were limited,” she said.

Ms Bing said they decided to open their restaurant in Suva because they found that Suva needed more restaurants that offer quality food prepared in a hygienic environment and with great customer service.

“Fijians are becoming more conscious of what they are consuming and rest assured that we can offer them.

“My family and I love dining out but we realised here in Fiji, our options were limited especially when it comes to Western food.

“Don’t get me wrong. We have been to a few good restaurants here but they are a rarity. We just weren’t satisfied on most occasions when we dined out.”

She said they are environmentally friendly and all their takeaway containers are biodegradable.
Background

The couple have a hospitality background of 20 years. They owned high-end restaurants in New Zealand and Malaysia. So serving quality food is important to them.

She said: “We have an open concept kitchen which means customers can see their food being prepared and have peace of mind that their food is being prepared in a hygienic environment. We have nothing to hide. Hygiene and food quality is strictly implemented in our kitchen.”

Menu

They have an extensive range of tapas and pasta dishes.

“We also have steak, Salmon, German pork knuckle with sauerkraut, soups and salads just to name a few. “From our deli, we have frittatas, paninis, quiches, lasagne & cakes. All our bread and cakes are made in house.”

Bar

They offer a full bar with a great range of beers, wine, cocktails, beers, smoothies, and coffee.

The restaurant seats up to 120 people. It also has a VIP room to cater for private dining and meetings.

“We hope to offer our customers great hospitality and quality food in a clean modern environment,” Ms Bing said.

The restaurant can be hired for birthday, wedding and other functions.

During the soft opening on Saturday night, the couple invited friends, business people to come and enjoy the atmosphere and see what the restaurant is offering.

Clooney’s restaurant and Bar is situated at 255 Victoria Parade, Suva, and currently employs 15 staff.
