Proper traffic management should be in place within the building and construction zones.

The Fiji Roads Authority was responding to queries after a team from this newspaper took photographs of a crane lifting heavy material along the busy Queens Road at Martintar, Nadi, on Monday the afternoon.

“This is unacceptable. Public safety is paramount and the FRA wishes to emphasise the need for traffic control during crane lifts,” the Fiji Roads Authority said in a statement yesterday.

“We do not want cranes to be passing over traffic. This is very dangerous and a proper traffic management plan should have been in place.”

However, there was no freak accident during the time of the crane in Nadi was operating.
