Police Commisioner: Tikoduadua Assault Claim Still Being Investigated

Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho says investigations are continuing on the assault claim by Opposition Member of Parliament Pio Tikoduadua against Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
Brigadier-General Qiliho was speaking from American Samoa last night. He has been there attending a regional Police chiefs meeting.
His comments come after an unverified video of the alleged incident went viral on social media, after being uploaded on an anti-Government Facebook page called Coup Fourpointfive.
During Parliament sitting on August 9, Mr Tikoduadua claimed that he was assaulted in the Parliament premises by the Prime Minister. At a press conference on the same day, Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said Government would let due process take its course over the allegations. He also said there were different witness accounts which contradicted Mr Tikoduadua’s.
Meanwhile, it is the Fiji Sun’s policy not to publish what’s on Coup Fourpointfive because of the site’s long record of lack of credibility.
