Government Work Aims At New Era Of Digital Transformation: Kumar

The Government is working towards a new era of service delivery, through the Government Digital Transformations.

This was the assurance made by Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Premila Kumar while speaking at the Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) Business Summit, new logo and website launch at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel yesterday.

Mrs Kumar said that with the changing lifestyles and business environment, there was a need for things to be done faster and much easier.

She said the business community should have easy access and be fully aware of their compliance and regulatory requirements such as trade across borders, tax obligations and any modifications to regulations.

“We are cognisant of this and agencies are striving to make their processes and procedures as clear and simple as possible,” Mrs Kumar said.

“Providing input on current compliance and regulation matters from the practical standpoint of business, is part of your function too.”

She also acknowledged that there is room for improvement while also assuring that her Ministry is open to working together to incorporate improvements when and where needed.

“The larger businesses need to lend support to the micro, small and medium enterprises and young entrepreneurs.

“The private sector needs to work with the Government machinery in our efforts to improve business processes.

“We’re doing this for the prosperity of the private sector.”

Mrs Kumar added that the vision for a modern and inclusive economy is embedded in the National Development Plan.

This, she said, maps the way forward for Fiji to realise its full potential.

New logo and website

While launching the new logo and website, Mrs Kumar said the new branding presents a modern and progressive look to the Fiji Chamber as the peak body of all chambers around Fiji and the liaison between private sector businesses and Government as policy makers.
