Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said yesterday he was shocked and saddened by the horrific tragedy about the death of five family members on Monday morning.

“Our nation was devastated by the news of the passing of five of our citizens,” he said.

“But I thank God that the one-year-old child was discovered and has since been admitted in hospital. I am praying for that the young girl’s full recovery.”

He made the remarks when he opened the Ra Provincial Council meeting at Nukuloa, Ra.

“I’ve been assured that our Fiji Police Force is giving this serious matter the resources and attention it deserves as they work to uncover the nature of this crime and discover who is responsible.

“In the meantime, I ask that you all join me in prayer to grant strength to the family and friends of the victims during this incredibly difficult time, and for the health of the infant girl who was rescued.”
