Elusive playmaker Peceli Nacebe is a sure starter for the Fiji Airways Fijian Drua when they face Brisbane City in the Australian National Rugby Championship opener tomorrow in Brisbane.

Nacebe takes over from Alivereti Veitokani, who spearheaded the Drua’s winning NRC campaign last year. Veitokani is now with the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians squad for next month’s Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Nacebe came to the limelight while playing for Nadroga in the Skipper Cup Premiership. In 2017, he played two games for the Drua in the championship before he took up a contract with French clubs Bordeaux Begles and then Brive.

Head coach Senirusi Seruvakula has rated Nacebe highly, but believes a bit of fine tuning is needed since rugby is a team sport.

“Nacebe is Nacebe. He still got it but has to to organise himself as a team player,” he added.

The match kicks-off at 7pm Saturday (Fiji time) at the Ashgrove Sports Ground.
