A family of seven had a rude awakening after hearing a deafening crash just outside their home yesterday morning.

Iqbal Ahmed said the time was around 4:30 am. He saw a hybrid landing on one side in their compound and coming out of the vehicle was the driver and a passenger.

He said it could have been a more drastic incident.

It was alleged that the vehicle veered off the road, and crashed into a tree before plunging into the compound.

Mr Ahmed who has been living at the home since 2002 said, “If it had not been for the tree, my children would have suffered major injuries or worse.”

Following the incident, Mr Ahmed is requesting the authorities to emphasise a 50km/ph speed limit and also put up road signs in the area.

Police and the Land Transport Authority have launched a joint investigation into the matter.
