Mechanical Harvester Incident Severs Man’s Left Hand

A man in his late 40s is recovering at the Labasa Hospital after his left hand was severed at the wrist.

Manoj Kumar, who lives in Sa­vulotu in Seaqaqa, was allegedly clearing leaves from a mechanical harvester when his hand was said to have been caught in the blade and was sliced off. The alleged incident happened on Wednesday.

When visited at the hospital yes­terday, Mr Kumar’s left wrist was bandaged. He confirmed the inci­dent but declined to make further comments.
