Amelia Mafi will always be remembered as a friendly and hard worker by her family and workmates.

Sadly, she became the victim of an alleged fatal stabbing incident at her workplace in Walu Bay on Saturday.

Yesterday members of the family were still in a state of shock trying to come to terms with her passing.

Asena Tiko (Amelia’s aunt) said: “I was surprised that Amelia’s workmates had called to say she was being rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital on Saturday.”

Ms Tiko said Ms Mafi and her husband had been in constant disputes and arguments were overheard during the phone conversations.

They had been living apart for some time now.

“I did not bother because there were talks of the two reconciling,” she said.

“She will be sorely missed by her siblings. This has to be the most unfortunate incident that has happened to our family.”

A Police report stated that a 34-year-old farmer of Naitasiri is in custody at the Totogo Police Station for allegedly stabbing his 36-year-old wife.

The victim was rushed to hospital but succumbed to injuries that she suffered.

Investigations continue.

Ms Tiko said that they would get in touch with Amelia’s father who resided in the West,

They will then confirm funeral arrangements.
