Pre-Trial Conference For Nasilasila Rape Case Set For Friday In Lautoka

The case of former national 7s player Amenoni Nasilasila, who is facing a charge of rape, will be called at the High Court in Lautoka this Friday for a final pre-trial conference.

Nasilasila, 27, appeared before Judge Justice Chamath Morais yesterday at the High Court in Suva.

Nasilasila is alleged to have raped a 24-year-old woman at Sigatoka, on December 22, 2018.

On March 27, Nasilasila had pleaded not guilty of the charge.

Nasilasila’s trial will commence on September 16 and conclude on September 19 at the High Court in Lautoka.

Moira Konrote and Mezabeen Khan from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions represented the State prosecution.

Nasilasila was represented by lawyer Amani Bale on instructions from Baleilevuka Lawyers.

Justice Morais has adjourned the matter to be called before Judge Justice Daniel Goundar at the High Court in Lautoka on September 6.

Bail for Nasilasila was further extended.
