A 17-year-old girl has been charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

She was arrested at her parents home after a raid by officers from the Nasinu Police Station.

The raid was conducted yesterday morning in Narere, where officers discovered more than 60 sachets of dried leaves confirmed to be marijuana and more than $900 allegedly in her possession.

She has been charged and will be produced at the Sigatoka Magistrates Court tomorrow.

In a separate case, a 24-year-old unemployed man of Nadawa was arrested at a supermarket complex in Valelevu after officers found him acting in a suspicious manner.

Upon searching him, officers found a clear plastic containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, smoking apparatus and more than $1000.

He remains in Police custody.

In the Eastern Division, a 63-year-old farmer of Wailevu Village in Wainibuka was arrested after a raid where more than 40 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were discovered.

Information received from the public led to the successful arrest.

The suspect remains in custody as investigators await the analysis result.

The Western Division also recorded a drug-related arrest whereby a 25-year-old man of Kashmir in Lautoka was searched at the Lomolomo Community Post.

Sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were found hidden inside a packet of cigarettes.

In the Northern Division a team of officers raided a house belonging to a 46-year-old man of Qelewaqa in Labasa and found more than 60 sachets and some seedlings believed to be marijuana.

The suspect remains in custody as investigators await the analysis report.
