A wheelbarrow man who is facing a drug-related charge appeared at the Magistrates Court in Suva on Monday.

Jone Kurumaica, 31, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

He appeared before Magistrate Seini Puamau during the special court sitting in Suva.

It is alleged that Kurumaica without lawful authority was in possession of 4.8 grams of cannabis Sativa, commonly known as marijuana, an illicit drug.

Police prosecutor Constable Sitiveni Baleitaveuni had served the accused with a full phase of disclosures and did not object to the bail, however, he requested strict bail conditions and reporting conditions.

Kurumaica had waived his right to counsel.

Magistrate Puamau granted bail to the accused on the bail bond sum of $300.

She ordered the accused not to re-offend while on bail, not to interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses, to reside at a fixed address and not to change his address without the leave of the court and to attend all court dates.

The matter was adjourned for plea on October 22
