$50 Million Four-Lane Nakasi To Nausori Road Eases Traffic

The new $50 million four-lane road from the Nakasi to Nausori corridor is helping ease traffic and commuters are reaching their destinations earlier.
Although peak hours in the morning and afternoons still presents some waiting time commuters have experienced a definite improvement.
Lakena resident Sameer Ali said he does not have to leave home at six in the morning anymore.
“When construction was on, I had to leave early. I work in Laucala Beach and if I left home late it would mean a long slow drive,” he said.
“Now I am leaving home at 6.30am, sometimes later than that.”
Joseph Steven stays in Davuilevu and travels to Nausori every morning.
“I start work at 8 am. Before, I had to leave home well before 7 am to ensure that I reached work on time. The same was for the children at home,” he said.
“Now we can catch the bus at 7 am and get some more sleep. This helps the wife as well.”
The Fiji Roads Authority chief executive Jonathan Moore has stated that there was still some work remaining. He said they had to open the road to ease the traffic situation.
Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority has already stated that there were too many cars on the road.
