January Tea Time opened its new branch worth $200,000 at Garden City Suva yesterday.

The business will specialise in bubble tea as this is something new to Fiji.

Managing director Lily Yuen said she enjoyed drinking bubble tea and wanted to expand this business in Fiji.

“I‘ve been around Fiji and other places trying bubble tea,” she said.

Ms Yuen said in overseas, it was very popular at the moment and she wanted to bring those tea into the country because it was something new in Fiji.

“Not everyone knows the taste of this tea, and this will be a good time for the people living in Suva area to try out.”

According to Ms Yuen, January Tea Time started in Martintar Nadi in January this year, where they also run a hot pot food restaurant. This is where their first outlet opened.

Nadi branch

Ms Yuen said she looks after the Nadi branch whereas her sister will look after the Suva branch.

“We invested $150,000 for the Nadi branch.”

At the moment she said a lot of people know about their drinks.

“We don’t do much of advertising, people just come to know through Facebook,” said Ms Yuen.

Suva branch

Ms Yuen said the Suva branch will cater for more hot drinks compared to Nadi because of the weather conditions.

“At the moment we have one of our well trained staff from Nadi branch working at our Suva shop.

New restaurant

Ms Yuen said they would also open a restaurant at the same branch in Suva.

She said the restaurant will offer hot pot food services where by customers can cook their food on the table stoves.

“We will also offer Chinese dishes as well so it’s a bit of a mixture of everything,” she said.

January Tea Time opening hours are from 9.30 am – 7.30pm from Monday- Saturday.
