The new Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge is at its preparatory work stage.

Fiji Roads Authority chief executive officer Jonathan Moore said they were working with utility companies regarding relocation and reinstatement.

He said it would be a two lane-reinforced concrete deck bridge.

Mr Moore said once the new bridge was completed, all the existing foundations, substructures and superstructure would be demolished.

He added: “This will be in preparation also for the second bridge to be built within this alignment. The second Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge will be a two-lane bridge as well.”

FRA aims to finish this project by early next year.
