Potholes on roads in the Wainibuku Subdivision in Nakasi have been compared to the size of lovo pits.

The roads belonging to Housing Authority behind the newly-built Rups Complex are in a deplorable state and residents are not happy.

The road conditions at Naivorovoro Road, Bure Kadi Road, Qacoya Road and Nasele Crescent is a concern, especially during rainy weather.

Resident Hasmat Ali said complaints have been lodged with the Housing Authority.

“It is difficult to drive there. The condition of the road is so bad that drivers are now driving on the wrong side trying to avoid the potholes, which can be dangerous,” he said.

Another resident, Sanjila Prasad, said the roads needed to be fixed.

Housing Authority Fiji chairman Nesbitt Hazelman said the temporary filling of the potholes would be done by the weekend.

“The road was built for the residents only. But due to the traffic that was directed from the main road when it was being built and heavy trucks using it as bypass, it has been damaged,”he added.

He said permanent repairs would happen, but has not given a timeline.
