Swimming Pool, Bus Station And Sports Stadium For Nasinu Soon

A swimming pool and a sporting complex for Nasinu are on the horizon and so is a bus station for the ever-growing municipality.
According to the Government, $480,000 has been allocated for the preparatory work for the Nasinu swimming pool and $340,000 for the preparatory work for the sports stadium.
And $70,000 has been allocated for the bus station preliminary works.
Nasinu residents say this was good news but they would like to see these budget announcements take shape.
Amit Kumar of Nasinu Road in Valelevu said the municipality had exponentially grown over the past years.
“I am 41 years old. There have been so many changes to Nasinu that if I show my old pictures people will not be able to recognise some areas,” he said.
“We are a town and we need more of these amenities such as the swimming pool and the stadium. I hope this takes shape soon and not drag on for the next two years or so.”
Tomasi Togei, 57, said he also wanted more action.
“It is good that there is a sound level of investment from the Government but these announcements are just words until they take shape,” he said.
During the Budget, Government announced that the Singapore Co-operation Enterprise will develop a master Land Use Plan for the Greater Suva Area, Lautoka City and Nadi Town.
This will be used to gauge municipalities’ growth potential and recommendations will be made to uplift the quality of life in municipalities and the surrounding areas with assets such as markets, satellite markets and bus stands.
In addition, the Local Government Ministry has been tasked to oversee the planning and development of growth centres into new towns.
