The Tongan national who allegedly drove his vehicle into the door of Burger King Restaurant at the Nadi International Airport, causing momentary havoc on Saturday night, allegedly assaulted a Police officer, and was also injured.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed this saying it happened at around 7:15pm.

“He is admitted at the Nadi Hospital under Police guard,” she said.

Ms Naisoro said he allegedly threw a punch at a Police officer based at the Border Police Unit.

Later he drove his vehicle into the door of a restaurant, at the Nadi International Airport causing damage, she said.

It is understood that that the man was under the influence of alcohol and also had two passengers in the vehicle.

When contacted yesterday, Fiji Airports did not wish to make a comment saying the matter was now with the Police.
