Year 12 Student Granted Bail With Strict Conditions

A year 12 student charged with one count of act intended to cause grievous harm has been granted bail with strict conditions.

Rahul Lolesh Kumar, 19, appeared before Justice Vincent Perera at the High Court in Labasa last Thursday.

The alleged incident took place on August 14, 2019, at Wailevu in Labasa.

The court heard that Rahul Kumar, with intent to do grievous harm to Hari Lal, unlawfully wounded him by punching.

The accused at the time of the incident was living with the 60-year-old-complainant.

The accused was represented by lawyers Sarju Prasad and Rikshal Dayal.

Mr Prasad informed the court that the accused was academically good and had good attendance.

He would be staying with his parents at Tuatua in Labasa.

Director of Public Prosecution lawyer Amelia Vavakadua, did not object bail, but told the court that the accused had not been given clearance by the school, which meant he could go back to school.

Justice Perera granted bail with strict conditions.
