Fours years ago, Joe Cokanasiga dressed as a Fijian warrior, a mascot, now he will make his debut  at the Rugby World Cup for England against USA at the Kobe Misaki Stadium this Thursday.

Standing tall at 6ft 4″ and weighing 118 kg, Cokanasiga has been named on the wing for his speed and power.

“I didn’t think it was possible. It feels weird to be here and playing on Thursday,” Joe Cokanasiga said.

The University of Gloucester graduate has no prior professional experience, but has the intention to strike fear to the American defence who have had less chances against a tier one competitor.

Hailing from the Fijian village of Deuba, Cokanasiga will live out his dream at the Kobe Misaki Stadium.

“Four years ago, I was watching the World Cup in the living room of our flat in Kingston, just trying to gain another sevens contract. Playing in the World Cup wasn’t even a thought in my head that I was either good enough or wanted to be back in 15s professionally,” he said.

“It’s a dream come true, definitely.”

Cousin to Waisea Nayacalevu who scored his debut try at the World Cup for Fiji against Australia.
