Family Misses Late Police Constable

It was an emotional experience for two sisters and their 63-year-old grandmother Subhagyum, during the Fiji Police Force Remembrance Day at the Labasa Police Station yesterday.
Ms Subhagyum is the mother of the late Constable Nitesh Nitya Nand.
Along with the late constables daughters the sad mum reminisced after laying their wreath.
Constable Nand died in early January, leaving behind his wife and two children.
Daughter Rakshna Ahani Nand, 8, misses her dad and the things that made them a happy family.
“We enjoy farming in our backyard garden, I miss those times,” Rakshana said.
“My mum is also a Police officer on a mission in Sudan and my brother is doing his Year 6 exams. Duty called and she could not be here today.”
Chief guest Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea, praised the work of the Fiji Police Force personnel in the division.
“For working tirelessly in maintaining law and order in the Northern Division,” he said.
“I’m deeply touched by the occasion to remember those who have fallen during the line of duty.”
He thanked families for supporting their loved ones who persevered to do their duties of service.

“To those who have left us, I know that you’re not here physically, but I thank you for your effort, dedication and sacrifices,” he said.
“I know you’re proud of your achievements, which is a testimony and a lesson learnt to all of us to remain committed and honest with our services.”
