Lautoka Accident Claims 34 Year Old Woman’s Life, Substance Believed To Be Meth Found in Vehicle

A 34-year-old woman died in a motor vehicle accident in Lautoka yesterday.

The victim was a passenger in a taxi driven by a 34year old man residing at Rifle Range in Lautoka.

The two were travelling along the Kings Road at Vitogo, Lautoka when the driver allegedly tried to overtake another vehicle and in the process lost control causing it to veer off the road and landed in a drain.

The victim died at the scene.

The suspect was conveyed to the Lautoka Hospital after receiving injuries and is under police guard.

A separate investigation is also underway as white substances believed to be methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.

The drugs have been sent for analysis.

The road death toll stands at 38 compared to 56 for the same period last year.
