A hugely proud moment for the Barrett family as the three brothers, Scott, Jordie and Beauden Barrett make their trio debut in the World Cup for New Zealand when the All Blacks take on Canada in their Pool B match at Oita Stadium on Wednesday.

The trio will become the first trio of brothers to start.

They are only the second trio of brothers to start in a World Cup match after the Tongan Vunipola brothers, after Tonga’s Fe’ao, Elisi and Manu Vunipola against Scotland achieved the feat in 1995.

“I never really thought we’d be here,” said lock Scott.

“In the backyard it would be a joke and you’d say, ‘He’s got to kick to win the World Cup’.

“You would create scenarios like that and, you’d sort of joke and now you pinch yourself because we’re here right now.”

Full-back Beauden Barrett retains his place, as do his brother Scott in the second row, fly-half Richie Mo’unga and captain Kieran Read, the number eight. RWC 2019 news

“As siblings, as you grow older, I guess you go your own ways but it’s an awesome time for us to connect on tour all together and all be living the dream we once had to play for the All Blacks,” Beauden Barrett added.

Coach Steve Hansen makes 11 changes to the side that beat South Africa, with starts for centre Sonny Bill Williams and wing Rieko Ioane.

Rieko Ioane is recalled and handed a chance to shine on the All Blacks left wing, at 22 years and 197 days when he appears against the Canucks, Ioane is the youngest member of the All Blacks squad.

Jack Goodhue has returned from a hamstring injury that kept him out for almost two months and comes in as the centre.
