Lautoka Woman, 34, Latest Road Victim

A Lautoka woman is the latest person to die on our roads.
Tazleem Imran, 34, who was a passenger in the taxi on Sunday, died at the scene after the vehicle veered of the road at Vitogo, Lautoka and landed in a drain.
The driver had allegedly tried to overtake another vehicle.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said the 34-year-old taxi driver lived at Rifle Range, Lautoka.
“He was taken to the Lautoka Hospital because he sustained injuries,” she said.
When the Fiji Sun visited the home of Ms Imran in Lauwaki Settlement, a family member said: “Her parents don’t want to talk.”
“Police told us about the incident. We went to the Lautoka Hospital to identify the victim’s body.”
Meanwhile, Ms Naisoro said white substances believed to be methamphetamine was found in the taxi and a separate investigation was underway, The alleged drugs were also sent for analysis.
The road death toll now stands at 38 compared to 56 for the same period last year.
