The late Reverend Major Laisiasa Ratabacaca will always be remembered as a man who chose God over the Vanua.

Former Methodist Church president Reverend Tevita Nawadra recalled that when his late colleague had retired, he was approached to be installed as a chief.

Reverend Ratabacaca is from Tarukua Village, Cicia, Lau.

He turned down the traditional position because he wanted to continue his work for the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma.

He said Reverend Ratabacaca was a perfect man of God.

A Republic of Fiji Military Forces spokesperson described 23911 Major Ratabacaca as a dedicated and a faithful leader.

He was educated at Cicia District School from 1948 to 1954.

He continued his education at Gaunavou School from 1955 to 1959.

From 1960 to 1962, he attended Davuilevu Bible School.

He was there from 1966 to 1968.

From 1970 to 1972 he attended Claremont School of Theology in the United States of America where he attained his Masters in Religion.

The funeral service of the late Reverend Ratabacaca took place at the Nabua Methodist Church.

He was laid to rest at Davuilevu.
