Nakasi Man Fronts Court For Attempted Murder

A Nakasi man, charged with one count of attempted murder, appeared at the Magistrates Court in Nasinu during the special court sitting earlier today.

Arendra Prasad appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza.

He is charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of criminal intimidation.

For the alleged offense of attempted murder, it is alleged that Arendra Prasad, on October 3, 2019, at Nasinu in the Central Division, attempted to kill the complainant.

It is also alleged that Prasad on the same day, with intent to cause alarm without lawful excuse, threatened the complainant by uttering the words “I will kill you”.

Prasad was in a de facto relationship with the complainant.

The matter has been transferred to the High Court in Suva and will be called on October 18.

Prasad was remanded in custody and a domestic violence restraining order with non-contact orders was placed to protect the complainant.
