Members of the public leaving in areas vulnerable to landslides are advised to be cautious of their surroundings and take precautionary measures should the need arise.

One evacuation centre in the central division has been activated.

The National Disaster Management Office confirmed that 20 residents (3 households) from Veiraisi are at the Nadera Methodist Church Hall.

 

The general public are advised to take heed of the heavy rain warning that has been issued for most parts of the country.

People living in low lying areas are to exercise caution as heavy rain continues. Families are urged to prepare accordingly should the need to evacuate arise.

The NDMO is urging motorists to take extra precaution as landslides/landslips are likely to happen if heavy rain continues.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education advises parents, guardians and heads of school to take precaution in sending students to school and in opening schools. Where there is any doubt, rather err on the side of caution and heads of school should remain vigilant and be on standby to assist students and parents. Where a school is closed, students should take the opportunity to continue their revision in preparation for exams.
