Suva recorded the highest rainfall in the country over the past 48 hours.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Services, it reached 255mm of rainfall on Monday.

In Koronivia, 163mm of rainfall was recorded while in Nausori 166mm.

Meanwhile, members of a family in Qarase Informal Settlement in Nadera, were disappointed after their new furniture were drenched following the continuous rain over the last few days.

Umesh Chand, 54, a digger operator, who just returned home after being hospitalised following a back surgery said drainage was their biggest issue.

“The Government had come and dredged the creek behind the homes but the problem is that further down, the creek has been blocked, so where will all this water go,” he said.

“My wife is very distraught. We had just bought furniture last week after saving for a long time. This is the third time this has happened.”
