Its mango season once again and the streets are beginning to be filled with mango vendors from all over the country.

One of these vendors is Losana Qereitoga of Verevere Village in Ra.

She said, “I fill five buckets of mangoes every morning from the mango trees near my house.

“I wake up every morning and my children help me pick up mangoes or they climb the tree to pick them up for me,” Ms Qereitoga said

“I am able to fill five buckets everyday, that shows how laden the mangoes trees are now back in the village,” she said

Ms Qereitoga usually sells root crops but with the amount of mangoes falling every day she has switched to mangoes.

“I have noticed how my mango sales have been going well these past few weeks and I have opted to put a pause to selling root crops and all other vegetables and concentrate on the mangoes.

“I make sure that I sell the ones that are fully ripe and that do not have any problems with my customers.

“I leave home at 6am every morning and I reach Suva at 10am. I always make sure that I finish all my five buckets before I leave for Ra again in the afternoon.

“I sell my mangoes at $2 a heap and it sells like hot cakes all the time.

“This is fair on my customers, as I did not water the mango trees for them to bear fruits.

“This is like a blessing so I want to bless others by charging them a reasonable price.

“Many say that I should increase the price but I have always tell them that it is better to sell at a reasonable price where everyone affords it and you don’t have to take back your produce at the end of the day.

“I get fresh supplies every day, and with this price I am able to make good money then catch the bus again in the afternoon; no hassle.”
