Lakena resident Subar Mani, 56, wept as he talked about his youngest child who died in an accident in Vatukarasa near Sigatoka yesterday morning.

Atish Mani, 23, was driving a truck to Sigatoka when it hit a coconut tree along the Queens Road in Vatukarasa.

Police confirmed that Mr Mani (victim) allegedly lost control of the truck causing it to veer off the road.

Police said he was rushed to the Sigatoka Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The elder Mr Mani said his son-in-law Krishna received a call from the company his son was driving for and were told that Atish was involved in an accident.

“We rushed down to Sigatoka to see him,” a tearful Mr Mani said.

Mr Mani said his son Atish had a dream to build his own home.

Krishna Mani Mudaliar, Atish’s brother-in-law said they last saw him on Monday evening.

The Mani family plans to hold the funeral on Saturday following the post mortem examination on Friday.
