President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote was yesterday briefed on the alarming cases of drug trafficking in the Northern Division.

He was informed about the problem while visiting the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Sukanaivalu Victoria Cross (SVC) Barracks in Vaturekuka, Labasa.

President Konrote was informed that at the moment, there was a joint team consisting of officers from both the Fiji Police Force and Republic of Fiji Military Force who were currently conducting operations in Taveuni.

Barracks officer in command Major Penasio Maumau said in Taveuni it’s to an extent where marijuana had been found at the top and the bottom ends of the Island.

However, President Konrote reminded the officers to ensure that the team members on the ground were safe.
