Fiji Airways Flying Fijians first five eight Ben Volavola said playing at the Rugby World Cup was a great experience but the outcome was disappointing.

The 28-year-old played in all the pool matches and kicked over 21 points.

Volavola told SUNsports yesterday that there are a lot of things to work on the future.

“Disappointing that we could not get through to the final stages,” he said.

“But it was great learning for me individually and the group as well. Within our playing group we grew a lot. Just little aspects in our game and we need to improve on our discipline. Hopefully we can make that progress for the next world cup.

“We believed in the team that was selected for that game and it was really on us the playing group to deliver on that day.”

He added that after reviewing their game they learned a lot.

“We saw that we made many mistakes and did not take the chances that we had. Kicking for goal is more of a mental thing than a physical thing.

“I don’t think people really understand that until they’re under pressure and there is pressure through the whole game. During the lineouts the hookers face the pressure.

“Guys who are jumping in the line out.

“The 1 to 23 who are playing on the game day if they don’t deliver then they are disappointed. So there is pressure everywhere.”

Volavola said he would take a break and get his body ready before heading back to his club in France.

“I’m not too sure for the Barbarians match. We’ll see when the time comes but for right now just getting my body back into shape and recovering mentally.”

Volavola said he’s in no hurry to tie the knot with his sweetheart, actress Shailene Woodley. They’ve been dating since October 2017.

“Still a long time and I am taking my time,” he added.
