Businesses Welcome New Fiji Revenue and Customs Service Tax System

Businesses in Lautoka City have welcomed the new online tax information system introduced by the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS).

This follows the day one of the Tax Return Filing Training at FRCS’s Lautoka Office on Monday, which saw interested business houses joined the training. The New Tax Information System (NTIS) will now make it easy for businesses to file their VAT return online.

Managing director for Dewan’s Business Services, John Dewan said once the NTIS becomes available it would make it convenient for businesses to file their VAT return.

“It will be time-consuming for taxpayers given that there is Vat Monitoring System (VMS) in place and businesses are already adapting to the VMS system,” he said.

“What I heard was that the NTIS will go live next year and the idea is to digitalise all filing of VAT or tax returns.

“Fiji is growing now and I think FRCS has taken that step as the tax authority of this country. I think moving forward is a good way for everybody and it will be much more convenient.

“Overall, every taxpayer should anticipate with FRCS so that together we can make this happen.”

He said although it would take time for businesses to adapt to the online system, it was still a great initiative.
