Fiji Sun’s long serving staff member, Taravini Seru, was laid to rest yesterday at the Nasinu Cemetery following her sudden death in Suva last Wednesday.

Ms Seru, 41, was a subs layout artist and has been with the company for more than 19 years.

Speaking at her funeral service Managing Editor Sports Leone Cabenatabua said Ms Seru left behind learnings which present staff could take a cue from.

“Ms Seru was a diligent worker who was always willing to work regardless of the hours,” Mr Cabenatabua said.

“Whenever work was tense, Tarai (Ms Seru was) would drop in a line to liven up the atmosphere.

“She had Fiji Sun at heart, When some of her newsroom colleagues moved elsewhere she stayed on.

“We will all definitely miss her.” Ms Seru was from Lakeba, Saqani, Cakaudrove, with maternal links to Nairukuruku in Naitasiri.

Hundreds, including families travelled from as far as Vanua Levu, friends and colleagues attended her funeral service.

Ms Seru is survived by her husband, three sons and two daughters.
