PilotsFlyPink! For Breast Cancer Awareness Month Campaign

The pilots over at our national airline Fiji Airways and Fiji Link are running their annual PilotsFlyPink! campaign to help increase awareness of Breast Cancer.
PilotsFlyPink! is a pilot initiative –financially-sustained and pilot-funded to help increase awareness of the need for early screening/detection of Breast Cancer.
Fiji Cancer Society chief executive officer Belinda Chan said: “Breast cancer affects many Fijian people and Fiji has one of the highest breast cancer mortality rates in the world due to late detection.
“It’s a disease that hits very close to home – many of us know someone who has succumbed to breast cancer or is a cancer survivor.”
The ‘Pinktober Pilots’ make a donations to raise funds for the Fiji Cancer Society and for the month of ‘Pinktober’, they swap their regular shoulder epaulettes for pink stripes to honour those at any step of their breast cancer journey and to raise awareness about the importance of screening/detecting breast cancer early.
Ms Chan added the Pinktober Pilots were attracting a lot of positive attention at airports on the Fiji Airways network and they encouraged members of the public to help.
“You can attend one of the many pink-themed fundraisers this month, all of which benefit the Fiji Cancer Society and assist the wonderful work they do in providing screening, education and support for those in need throughout Fiji,” she said.
“You can wear pink attire or a pink ribbon and also encourage your loved ones to make October the month they are screened for cancer.”
