‘Reach For The Sky, But Keep Your Feet On The Ground’, Tui Cakau Hails Radradra’s Success

Fiji Airways Flying Fijians star Semi Radradra got a timely reminder yesterday.
It came from the paramount chief and head of the Tovata Confederacy Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.
“Reach for the sky, but put your feet on the ground,” Ratu Naiqama said.
The Vanua of Lalagavesi, Somosomo, Taveuni honoured their most famous sporting son in a traditional celebratory feast at the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Hall at Nabua in Suva.
This was after Radradra’s powerful performance at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
The Tui Cakau was proud of Radradra’s achievements and reminded him not to forget traditional values passed down from his parents.
“Today is the day to celebrate your achievement and participation at the RWC,” he said
“You are not the first person to achieve such success in the province of Cakaudrove.
“We are really honoured for your achievements and your contribution to the sport in the country.
“I recall your father’s struggle and sacrifice of raising his children and everything he achieved for himself was incomplete. But he always made sure his own children completed their education.
“And one important thing that I would like to tell you is that even though you are a well-known person today, always remember to put your feet on the ground and remember your families and friends.
“We also would like to wish you the very best in your future endeavours.”

Meanwhile, Radradra wasn’t expecting such a warm welcoming reception.
“I didn’t really expect it and I’m blessed,” he said.
“To receive a positive response from my loved ones despite knowing our performance was not as what was expected.
“Looking at the last two Rugby World Cups, Fiji’s performance has improved despite not reaching the quarterfinals,” Radradra said.
“The journey has been good and most of the players are looking to play against the Barbarians next month
“The coach will decide whether I make the team or not.”
“After that I will return to France and complete one more season with Bordeaux Rugby Club in France.
“With regards to rumours about switching back to rugby league, I will let my agent make that decision for me.
“I will just focus on playing good footy. I like staying in France.
“My next big target is 2020 Olympics and if given opportunity I will go for it.”
