A snake, which was about a metre long, was spotted at a double-storey flat in Simla, Lautoka, on Saturday.

Shakuntala Singh of Simla, Lautoka, who sent a video to the Fiji Sun, captured the snake feeding on a bird and alerted the authorities.

Ms Singh said the snake was spotted on the top flat of her neighbour’s double-storey house. She said the top flat was vacant for some time while the bottom flat had tenants.

“The other neighbour was calling me saying that he saw birds flying around the home and he saw this snake and it had caught one of the birds,” she said.

“Luckily, no one was hurt by this snake.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said a team of Police officers were called in to help remove the reptile from the house. The Fiji Sun has learned that the snake was taken away by the authorities. The species of the snake has yet to be determined.
