The Nadi Health Centre will resume normal operations from today, a top health official in Nadi has said.

Last week, the centre was temporarily closed because of a sewer blockage that caused waste water to enter the building.

Nadi sub-divisional medical officer Dr Abdul Shah said: “Our divisional office has actually rectified the problem and they are cleaning up the place and we should be in full operations on Monday.

“I believe there was a blocked sewer pipe and due to that it overflowed and went into the building. The place has been disinfected already.”

Dr Shah said at least 30 to 40 babies were seen daily at the centre.

The Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Alex O’Connor, said mothers were notified to take their babies to the Nadi Hospital, while health workers at the centre cleaned up the area.
