4 Remanded For Alleged Robbery At Lautoka High Court

Four men, each charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of theft have been further remanded at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.
Peni Tuilaselase, Manasa Waqa, Mosese Cakau and Togalesi Matarara appeared before Judge Justice Sunil Sharma.
It is alleged that the four men forcefully entered the home of a couple in Waiwai, Ba on September 14 and stole a mobile phone, cash and jewellery before they forced the couple into their Toyota van and drove to Lautoka where it was later found abandoned.
Justice Sharma asked the accused persons to decide on the next course of action in terms of legal representation before the state is to file information on the next mention date.
Tuilaselase told the court that on two occasions late last month and early this month, the four men were assaulted by Natabua Corrections Facility officers.
Justice Sharma told Tuilaselase that he had previously ordered for Tuilaselase to be taken to the Lautoka Police station to lodge a complaint and that the matter was being taken care of.
The case has been adjourned to November 5 for the state to file information. A production order has been issued for the accused persons.
