Pinktober: Fiji Cancer Society Targets $300,000

The Fiji Cancer Society is looking to raise more than $300,000 this month so that it could expand its services to Fijian families around the country.
At the moment its focus is on Fijians living in Suva and around the Western Division.
Chief executive officer Belinda Chan said: “We are adamant of raising the targeted amount. The challenge is the demand has always been bus fare, boat fare, airfare to bring them to get checked at our referral centres.”
Earlier this month, the society received a $20,000 donation for its Pinktober campaign from the Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Limited (FPTCL).
The late Joyce Heramans left $20,000 each for the Fiji Red Cross, WOWS Kids, Viti Spinal Injuries Association and the Fiji Cancer Society.
The society continues its month-long campaign, advocating on the importance of early detection of breast cancer for both men and women across the country.
“The Fiji Cancer Society continues to work closely with the Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders,” Ms Chan said.
