$250,542 Raised At Adi Nadroga Navosa 2019

The people of Nadroga-Navosa province have exceeded their fundraising target of $200,000.

Organising committee secretary and Assistant Roko Tui, Rusiate Raidaveta, said the two-day fete which ended on Saturday at Sigatoka Village raised $250, 542.10.

He said funds raised would be used to meet their provincial commitments which include a children’s education scheme.

“This is to bridge the gaps, to help students in the province who do not meet or are not able to get a scholarship because of low marks,” he said

“This will encourage and help them secure and finish their tertiary education,” Mr Raidaveta said.

Speaking on behalf of the Turaga Na Ka Levu and Mata ni Tikina the Taukei Vunawi Ratu Jolame Vosailagi, urged the people of the province to support the annual festival.

“The current generation must realise the important input made by the elders of the province.

“We must recognise their contribution,” Ratu Jolame said.

The 22 districts of the province  include: Cuvu, Conua, Malolo, Namataku, Naqalimare, Nasigatoka, Noikoro, Tuva, Wai, Vatulele, Malomalo, Bemana, Komave, Koroinasau, Korolevu-i-wai, Mavua, Nadrau, Nasikawa, Navatusila, Nokonoko, Raviravi and Waicoba.

Tuva district (Tikina) raised $26, 331.90 while Mavua raised $9, 285.90.
