Two Cyclones Predicted To Hit Fiji Over November To April

The Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre  (RSMC) in Nadi has said that Fiji group of islands can expect at least two tropical cyclones this cyclone season.

The season extends between November 1, 2019 and April 30, 2020 with the peak period usually from January to March.

A report from the Nadi Weather Office urged all communities to remain alert and prepared throughout the 2019-2020 cyclone seasons.

The prediction is that one may reach category three or stronger intensity. Therefore, it is critically important that all communities remain prepared and vigilant at all times.

Take heed of tropical cyclone alerts, warnings and advisories seriously whenever it is issued to reduce the risk on life, livelihoods and property.

The risks that are likely during such event are damaging winds, heavy rain which leads to flooding and landslides and storm surge that can result in sea flooding of low lying coastal areas.
