The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho is leading the Fiji Delegation to the 126th IACP conference currently underway in Chicago, Illinois at the McCormick Convention Centre from 26 – 29 November, 2019.

Police Chiefs and Law enforcement officers from IACP member countries across the Globe and the entire United States of America are attending the 2019 IACP Conference and Exhibition dubbed as the largest gathering of law enforcement officers in the world.

US President Donald Trump in his keynote address delivered on Monday 28th November expressed his appreciation for the critical role assumed by police officers across the globe.

The Conference facilitated close to 200 sessions addressing contemporary and emerging challenges confronting the law enforcement profession including networking opportunities and sharing of challenges and success stories with fellow law enforcement peers from across the globe.

It provided police leaders with new strategies, techniques and resources to successfully address the evolving global policing environment.

Fiji became a member of the IACP this year following a visit to Fiji by the IACP President Mr Paul Cell in July 2019 when the Commissioner of Police was inducted as a full member of the IACP.

A delegation from the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Association is also attending including Chiefs of Police from American Samoa, Guam, Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand, PICP Secretariat Executive Director and reps from Tonga and the Solomon Islands.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the IACP and the Pacific Islands Chief of Police (PICP) was signed on the margins of the Conference establishing selected areas of cooperation.

The Commissioner of Police Brig Gen Sitiveni Qiliho will assume the Chairmanship of the PICP in 2020.

The IACP theme states, “Shaping the future of the Policing Profession “; this is an effective way to address the evolving global criminal landscape and the Fiji Police Force is truly appreciative of the opportunity to be a member this distinguished body.

The Commissioner of Police was accompanied by Fiji Police Director of International Relations Mr Ulaiasi Ravula and Staff Officer ASP Aisake Kafoa.
