The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) has appointed Brian Kirsch as its acting president, following its Board meeting in Nadi past week.

Mr Kirsch was the previous senior vice president of FHTA and represents Robinson Crusoe Island Resort on the Association’s 16-member Board of Directors.

Two additional Board appointments were also confirmed- Warwick International Hotel’s Tammie Tam as acting vice president, and Neeraj Chadha representing Marriott International, joins the Executive Committee.

“We welcome Mr Kirsch’s appointment as acting president of the FHTA Board of Directors, and we are equally pleased to confirm Ms Tam and Mr Chadha on the Executive Committee,” said FHTA chief executive officer (CEO), Fantasha Lockington.

“It is not new territory for Mr Kirsch, having served as senior vice president on the Board for many years.

“We have much to gain from his familiarity of Fiji’s tourism industry and, we are honoured to continue serving our existing and new members with the new appointments,” she added.

The position had been vacant following the death of its long-serving president, Dixon Seeto, on 19 July 2019. Mr Seeto had held the post for 16 years.

While Ms Tam has been a member of the Executive Committee for many years, Mr Chadha joins the Executive Committee as member for the first time.

Ms Lockington said the acting appointments were accepted unanimously by the Board and would carry through to the next FHTA annual general meeting scheduled for June 2020 when nominations for the Board president position and vice presidents’ positions as well as Director vacancies take place.
