Two Police Officers Allegedly In Possession With Marijuana, Charged, To Appear In Lautoka Court

Two police officers have been interdicted without pay for their alleged involvement in drug related activities reinforcing the Commissioner of Police’s stand of zero tolerance policy against officers involved in drugs.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the two officers have been charged with one count of unlawful Possession Contrary to section 5 (a) and one count of in possession of controlled chemical and Equipment:Contrary to Section 6 (a) of Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.
DCP Tudravu said there’s no room for officers who fail to uphold the law.
The two officers were found with the illicit substances later confirmed to be marijuana in Lautoka on Monday.
“Any officer found breaching the very laws we swore an oath to uphold will be removed from the Force, and as well as facing criminal charges will also face out internal disciplinary processes”.
The two will be produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court today.
