A 75-year old man who lived in deplorable living conditions for more than two decades will soon have a decent house.

Iqbal Hassan of Calia, Navua has Make a Difference Fiji to thank as they had stepped up to build the one-bedroom house and the kitchen area, with contributions from Human Care Australia and public support funds.

Project manager Tulia Qovuna said Mr Hassan, who is single, lived in pitiful conditions for the past 20 years and had been struggling all his life.

“Hassan’s plight was brought to our attention,” she said.

“He lived in a sad condition, not much of a house, let alone home.

“And as the, Make a Difference Fiji organisation we felt the need to reach out and help build a decent house”.

Tulia said the land for the new house was gifted by Mr Hassan’s nephew.

She said Human Care Australia and pubic donors had been generous for the phased construction as they welcome funds to complete the project and furnish it.

“We’re short on of about $5000. We will use whatever is needed and the rest will go towards other dire needs”.

Ms Tulia said she was indebted to the donors and the people who continue to support the construction of the house.
