Four young enthusiastic queens will be vying for the title of Miss Rakiraki at the 2019 Vodafone Rakiraki Carnival.

The four contestants are, Miss Formscaff Raijeli Cawai, Miss Rakiraki Town Council Laniana Nakadavu, Miss Sounds of Pacific Avashna Sharma and Miss Rakiraki Tanoa Hotel Unaisi Bukavesi.

This year’s Carnival aims to bring together the people of Rakiraki Town and show support to the four queens.

The theme for this year’s carnival is ‘Healthy Mind Productive Nation’.

Chairperson of the Carnival, Rajshree said the theme was decided based on the happenings involving youths in today’s era.

“The theme relates to the concerns of drugs and mental stress and plus the girls will be advocating on what people put on social media because if they have healthy minds they wouldn’t be involved in such activities,” said Ms Rajshree.

“This year we have partnered with the Ministry of Education for their oratory contest based on the theme of the Carnival.”

She said there would be a total of nine primary schools competing at the oratory contest on Wednesday.

Ms Rajshree added the Carnival would also allow businesses to make their profit during the week-long Carnival.
